Also known as the "Heart of Dixie" and the ''Cotton State'', Alabama has one of the longest navigable inland waterways in the nation. The state is named after the Alabama tribe, a Native American people who originally lived at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers. Alabama is known for its scenic beauty, and has a lot to offer those who enjoy the great outdoors.
